EJEPL Midget Divisions Playoff Preview
The EJEPL will begin its’ playoff season with an exciting weekend of 15 - 18U Diamond and Futures Division Playoff Championship matchups January 25-26, 2025. With the high stakes of a ‘one and done’ format, the intensity is sure to be at an all-time high as teams face off for a shot at the EJEPL Championship Banner for each of the 7 divisions.
At Middletown Ice Arena in Middletown, New Jersey three divisions will compete for the championship, 15U Diamond, and 18U Diamond 1 and 2.
Kicking things off in the 15U Diamond division with the Nassau County Lions facing off against the Long Beach Lightning to see who brings it all home. This best of 3 mini game series sets up to be a thrilling one on paper and we hope it is the same on the ice!
Next up, for the 18U Diamond 1 Division, the four top seeds will compete for a chance to play in the championship game. Snider Hockey will take on the Long Beach Lightning with both teams eager to secure their spot, while the Nassau County Lions and New York Stars will battle for the other spot. The stakes will be high and all four teams will have to bring their best for their chance to lift that banner.
The 18U Diamond 2 Division is setting the stage for some thrilling playoff action! With Genesis Hockey Club and the Long Island Kings earning first-round byes, they’ll be watching closely as the quarterfinal matchups unfold. The New York City Cyclones vs. Long Island Edge and the Mid Hudson Polar Bears vs. Richmond Generals Selects will have to battle it out to ultimately earn their spot to play for the championship.
The rest of the weekend’s titles will be earned at Iceworks in Aston, PA.
The Long Beach Lightning and the Long Island Gulls earned a first-round bye for the 16U Diamond 1 division. They will be watching as the Mid Hudson Polar Bears face off against Capitals Academy while Genesis Hockey Club faces off against Snider Hockey. The division is packed and will surely be a competitive weekend to see who finds themselves the champions.
16U Diamond 2 will see Delco Phantoms - Charbonneau vs. Long Island Edge and the Delco Phantoms - Reid vs. Loudoun Knights in the two semi-final matchups with the winners of each earning their spot to compete in the final championship.
The 16U Futures 1 quarterfinals will feature the Baltimore Stars against the Long Island Kings and the Great Neck Bruins against the Central Penn Panthers. The winner of each of these determines who takes on the division’s top two seeds who each earned a bye to semifinals, the Nassau County Lions and the Triad Storm.
The 16U Futures 2 division is shaping up to be a thrilling contest, with a high-stakes play-in game with the New York Stars playing the Pelham Pelicans to determine who will face the Delaware Jr. Blue Hens in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the other semifinal matchup between the Peconic Wildcats and Long Island Sharks promises to be just as exciting, with both teams vying for a spot in the championship game.
The stage is set for an unforgettable playoffs, with the games packed with talented teams ready to leave it all on the ice. The stakes couldn’t be higher as each team pushes to claim the ultimate prize—the EJEPL Championship for the 2024-2025 season.
