2026-2027 EJEPL GAME PROTOCOL AND PROCEDURES

FOR ALL NON-SHOWCASE GAMES, THE REFEREES MUST BE NOTIFIED OF THESE PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME

15-16-18 U

5:00 Warm-Up

2, 25:00 Minute Stop Time Halves - Ice cut at halftime

***Teams defend the same net closest to their bench for both halves***

If tied, the game heads directly to one sudden death 5-minute 3-on-3 overtime period. (see overtime procedures)

2:00 Minor penalties, 5:00 Major and Match penalties, 10:00 Misconduct penalties

10-12-13-14 U

3:00 Minute Warm-Up

3, 15:00 Minute Stop time periods

1:30 Minor penalties, 4:00 Major and Match penalties, 8:00 Misconduct penalties

Teams defend the end closest to their bench for the first and third periods and switch to defend the end farthest from their bench in the second period.

If tied, the game heads directly to one sudden death 5-minute 3-on-3 overtime period. (see overtime procedures)

·      Both teams are responsible for bringing their own warm up pucks

·      Home team supplies game pucks

·      Home team is responsible for bringing an iPad to the game and for scoring the game – The home team is also responsible for Game Upload within one hour of the completion of the game to EJEPL website

·      For loose games, the home team assigns the officials through their local referee assignor. The EJEPL assigns officials for showcases and playoffs only.

·      Home team staffs the scorers’ booth – the scorer must have both coaches approve their lineup prior to the beginning of the game.

·      Unlike showcase games, there is no official mercy rule in loose games; however, if both teams agree to run the clock in the third period or second half, that is permissible.

·      Referees - The EJEPL uses USA Hockey rules.
