Below, please read the initial information for the 2018-19 EJEPL playoffs. This is all tentative information. Final playoff information will be available in November. There are different formats for many of the age groups which take into account amount of teams, ice availability and other factors.

The Krach rating system will be used for each boy’s level in the EJEPL. This is done because no two teams play the same schedule. It is possible to have more points than a team and not make the playoffs.

Here are the possible formats……

1 vs 2 (2 out of 3 series)----In this scenario, teams 1 and 2 will play a 2 out of three series.

Final Four--- In this scenario, there are 4 teams and 1 will play 4 and 2 will play 3. The winners will then meet in the Championship game.

Elite Six--- In this scenario, the first and second best KRACH rated teams will receive byes into the semi-final round. In the quarter finals, 3 will play 6 and 4 will play 5. After the quarter finals, the teams are re-seeded based on KRACH. The 1st place team will then play the remaining team in the semis with the lowest KRACH and the 2nd place team will play the other quarter final winner. The two semi-final winners will then play for the Championship.

Elite Eight---In this scenario, it is a true quarterfinal. 1 will play 8, 2 will play 7, 3 will play 6 and 4 will play 5. In the semi’s the teams will be re-seeded. The highest remaining KRACH rated team will play the lowest remaining team and the second highest remaining KRACH rated team will play the remaining team. The winners will then play for the Championship.

6 team Round Robin--- In this scenario, by formula, all teams are in one division and a three game round robin will be played. Teams will receive 3 points for a win, 2 points for an OT win, one for an OT loss and 1.5 points for a tie. The USA Hockey tie breaking formula will be used to break standings ties. After the round-robin, the 1st overall finisher in the round –robin will get a bye into the Championship game. Teams ranked 2 and 3 in the round-robin will play in the semi-final game. More rule clarification as we get closer.

8 Team Round Robin -- Same as above......2 brackets of (4) teams, three game round-robin, cross-over semi's and a Final Game.

______________________________________________________________________

·         In all Final 4, 2 of 3, Elite 6 and Elite 8, games MUST all have a winner. If the game is tied after regulation, the teams will play regular periods of sudden death until a goal is scored.

·         In the 6 / 8 Team round-robin play, a modified EJEPL OT will be used. The semi’s and Finals will be run as described in the section above this one as it pertains to OT

·         All discipline will be handled by the EJEPL Playoff supervisor who will be in attendance.

·         The highest rated KRACH team is the home team for every game they play. They MUST wear white and the visitor dark.

·         Updated roster labels will be used. The EJEPL Supervisor will handle all score sheet logistics

·         Teams will use their own warm-up pucks.

·         Warm-ups will be 4 minutes for 9-14 U and 5 minutes for 15-18 U. At the midget level, there will be an ice cut at the half. Periods will be 3—15’s at youth and 2-- 25 minute halves at midget level. Penalties will be USA by the book.

The schedule for all venues will be prepared in December, the teams will then slot themselves in based on where they finish. There will be NO DEVIATION to the schedule for any reason. If your team cannot accept the schedule, the next team in the KRACH rating will take your spot.

Winning teams will receive a rink banner. Runner –ups will receive a trophy. Youth players will also receive medals. There will be a playoff MVP for each age level.
